Six Cheap and Creative Ideas For Valentines Day

Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching, a day that each year puts fear into the hearts of men. Every year, you promise yourself that next year; you are going to do something different. If you still do not have any inventive ideas for a special surprise, do not panic. Here are some Valentine’s Day gift ideas (many easy on the pocket) that are sure to please your love on that special day.

Balloon Surprise

This one will require handwritten notes to your Valentine. Phrases like “I love you”, “Thanks for being you”, or “You mean more to me than anything” are good as well as sayings that have special meaning only to the two of you. You can write short memories of fun things you did together, an unforgettable vacation or a special moment you shared, like the birth of a child. Once you get the notes written, cut them into small sections. Make sure each note is small enough to be folded and placed in a balloon. You can purchase a small helium tank and balloons at most party stores. Take a balloon, insert a note into it, and then blow it up. When your Valentine comes home, have her pop each balloon to read your message of love.

Recreate Your First Date

Unless it was just a total failure, your first date probably holds a lot of sentimental value for both you and your loved one. What better Valentine’s Day surprise could there be than to recreate the first date, a time when you first fell in love? Go to the same restaurant, rent the first movie you watched together, take her dancing to the same bar – whatever you did on that first date, make it happen again. Even if it was a disaster, you can recreate it, making it better the second time.

Getaway Trip

This one will require more money and a little groundwork, but is sure to be enormous fun for both of you. Plan a secret weekend vacation. If you have kids, arrange for babysitters without letting your love know about it. Book the airline tickets, make the hotel reservations and when Friday rolls around, surprise her by having her bags packed, ready to go. Las Vegas is a great getaway destination. You can even renew your vows in a fun setting, like wedding chapel that has an Elvis impersonator do the ceremony. If you cannot afford a big trip, book a weekend at a bed and breakfast within driving distance. A getaway involving just the two of you will be fun no matter where you go.

Special Songs

Here is an inexpensive way to show her that you remember those special love songs. Make a compact disc of songs that have special memories for you and your Valentine. You can do this on your computer using iTunes or Windows Media Player. If you do not have the songs on a CD already, you can even download them from places like Amazon, Buy.com or iTunes for less than a dollar each. Each time she hears this CD, she will think of you!

Romance Scavenger Hunt

Buy miniature presents like a bag of candy kisses, a bottle of her favorite perfume or a single rose. Then create a few gifts of your own such as a handwritten poem, a compact disc of special songs, or a handmade Valentine’s Day card. Write clues that will be attached to each gift, telling her where the next present can be found. Make the last present something that will last a while like a picnic dinner, a bottle of champagne hidden close to the fireplace or lingerie in the bedroom.

Chocolate Fun

If you both love chocolate, this can be a very fun and sexy idea. Make a batch of chocolate pudding and feed it to each other sitting by the fireplace. You may want to place a blanket or something on the floor in case it turns into a playful food fight. To spice it up, remove one article of clothing each time you feed your loved one and ask her to do the same. This can even lead to a romantic shower for two, so have candles ready in the bathroom.

As you can see from these ideas, Valentine’s Day does not need to be anything excessive. It just takes a little effort and creativity on your part and you can turn this Valentine’s Day into one that your special someone will remember forever!

Valentine’s Day Gift For Her: A Full Day Of Love

The first thing you should do when embarking on a mission to choose a Valentine’s day gift for her, is to relax. This should be seen as a pleasurable experience with nothing on your mind except the warm fuzzy feelings you get when you think of how much you want to make her feel loved on this day.

To do this without the stress involved, it helps to go about it like any other action that you want to go well. You plan it out.

The first thing you’ll want to do is consider her likes and dislikes. There is nothing romantic about buying something that she doesn’t like. In fact, if she loves red roses and you bring her home yellow daisies, it won’t go over well. Not to say that she won’t (or shouldn’t) appreciate you taking the time to buy her flowers, but the idea is to make her feel special and you’ll do that by remembering what her favorite flower is.

One of the best things you can do for valentine’s day is instead of rushing out and grabbing a gift on the way home from work, plan out an actual day for her.

Now, that doesn’t mean you have to plan a day trip out of town or do anything too extreme, but make it a day that’s all about her and showing how much you appreciate her and her love.

This is where the planning part comes into play. If you plan it out well ahead of time, giving her a full valentine’s Day that’s all about her can be pretty stress-free but mean the world to her.

The only thing about planning a full day for her is that she will probably need to be in on it  – at least part of it to know she has to be available for a full day/evening.

As an example, you could have her Valentine’s Day car waiting with her favorite breakfast on the table when she awakes. A trip to the spa and a light lunch could follow. What about a drive down to the beach and a walk on the boardwalk. Yes, it might be chilly, but it’s romantic to snuggle and walk. If you do not have the budget for an evening dinner out, then maybe plan to watch two of her favorite chick flicks and share a bottle of her favorite wine?

You know her best, but you get the point. Really think about her, what she likes, and plan a full day around her and show her that you really were thinking of her today.

Valentine’s Day Marriage Proposal Ideas

Without question, one of the best days of a woman’s life is when she is proposed to by the man she loves. For the man, it’s often a stressful thing to think about to be sure he goes about it the right way and makes everything perfect for her and memorable.

Valentine’s day is a romantic time to ask the love of your life to marry you, and here’s a few ways to make it even more special:

1. The Getaway. If you’re girlfriend loves spontaneity and taking trips, then proposing during a weekend getaway is a sure bet, especially if Valentine’s Day falls on a Saturday or Sunday. The great part about this is that you can make it all about a Valentine’s day gift and not bring up a suspicions of a possible proposal. If it’s possible in your relationship, don’t tell her until the last minute, that day even.

However, you will have to have quite a few things already planned (tickets, hotel, possibly bags packed). If you have trouble with these sorts of things, try enlisting a trusted friend of hers to help you plan it out.

2. The Family Surprise. Why not propose in front of her whole family. This one depends on if your girlfriend is the traditional type and also how well you and her get along with her side of the family.  You will likely need at least one family members in on this with you to help you gather a family reunion (party, dinner, etc.) and invite her to come on a specific date.

Not everyone has to know, but it will probably work out better if they do. This way, you can designate a specific time that you will propose so that everyone knows to be in the room. You might want to even have a signal like a particular song, or have someone say something that is the code.

This one is great for those who would like to get it on film without ruining the element of surprise, since it wouldn’t be odd for cameras to be rolling at a family reunion.

3. Steal From The Movies. But not just any movie. The majority of women have at least one chick flick that turns on the water works because of a romantic proposal somewhere in the film. So, what you could do is re-enact that scene. If you’re unsure of what that movie is, then set it up first by finding out the sneaky way.  Tell her that you want to do a chick flick marathon with her for Valentine’s day and that you want to buy her a few of her favorites.

Make sure you get a list of 5 or 6 or more to choose from so you can be sure to get one with a proposal in it. Also, be sure to work this in with ample time to set up the proposal on Valentine’s day.
